When you add a domain as hosted in some account, you normally set a pair of Name Servers to point it to that particular company. On their end, three records are set up automatically right after the domain address is added - one A record and two MX records. The former is a numeric address, or IP address, which “tells” the Internet domain where its website is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they reveal the server that manages the e-mails for that specific domain address. The site and the email hosting are usually perceived as one thing, when they are actually two different services. Having different records for them will permit you to have them with different providers if you want. For instance, some new provider could have fantastic uptime for your website, but you might not want to switch your emails from your current host and by employing an A record to point the domain to the first and MX records to have the emails with the latter, you can get the best of both providers. These records are checked when you wish to open a website or send an email - either way, the service provider whose name servers are used for the Internet domain will be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you've set records different from their own, the right web/mail server will then be contacted and you're going to see the needed website or your e-mail is going to be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Hosting

If you have a cloud hosting from us, you're going to be able to view, set up and modify any A or MX record for your domains. Provided that a given domain name has our Name Servers, you will be able to modify certain records using our Hepsia hosting Control Panel and have your website or e-mails pointed to any other provider if you'd like to use only one of our services. Our leading-edge tool will even allow you to have a domain name hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted elsewhere by changing only its A record - this will not affect the main domain name the slightest bit. If you decide to use the e-mail services of another provider and they want you to create more than two MX records, you can easily do it with only a couple of clicks within the DNS Records section of your Control Panel. You may also set different latency for every MX record i.e. which one will have priority.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

Accessing and editing the A or MX records for any one of your domain names or subdomains is extremely easy if you acquire a semi-dedicated server plan through us. The accounts are maintained through our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel, which features a section committed to the DNS records of your domains. The latter is going to be listed alphabetically and you may click on every one of them to see both the A and the MX records. Editing any record will be as easy as typing in the new one in a text box and saving the change, so even though you may have never dealt with such matters before, you simply won't experience any troubles if you decide to move your website or emails to another company while keeping the second service with our company. If needed, you could also create additional MX records and set a certain priority based on the recommendations of the new provider.
